Tree is littered with stat upgrade nodes (health up, stamina up, strength up etc.), but most importantly proficiency nodes. It's actually quite simple, once you figure it out. Skill tree may seem daunting at first, but you should look through it anyway. Once you level up, you gain one black pearl. I recommend going back to level up very often, since you can get killed by something unexpected and lose your salt. Once this bar is filled with grey, and turns white, it means you have enough Salt (icon on the left, XP basically) to level up. To check if you're eligible for level up, you can look at the grey bar at the bottom left of the screen, just below all the currencies. You level up at the statue at the top of Pardoner's Vale (hub). Just like in Dark Souls, there is no class limitations, but you can get very underpowered if you spread your levels wildly. You should choose your build before you even start new game. On the moment of writing, latest version of the game is 1.0.0.8 Miscellaneous - completely not necessary stuff, but is there if you want to know more You still can enjoy this game without online, but that would be completely up to youĪlright, this is it, but before I proceed to the guide itself, let me tell you how it's structured:īasic - something that you must keep in mind, because the game operates on these ideas This game was designed around online components, so you would be missing massive part of the game. I'm not saying it's impossible, I bet somebody out there is already doing something like that, but this game is designed around "play smart, use whatever you have to" idea. What I mean, is that if you plan on choosing single weapon, and rushing at all encounters head on without using anything else that the game gives you, you're gonna have a bad tom. You're a minimalist: If you're type of person who likes to commit to single simple build in game's that allow you to multiclass, you're gonna have a hard time. This game is completely it's own thing, and if you'll get this game expecting more Sanctuary, you'll have miserable experience If you're expecting Salt and Sanctuary 2: Despite similar name, this game is absolutely NOT a sequel Sanctuary.Still, it's quite fun to chase mages trying to dish as much damage as you can. If you want to try anything to scratch that itch from Monster Hunter: Mage Hunt are a cool mechanic, which in it's essence is similar to Monster Hunter hunts, but don't expect MH complexity here.If you're willing to cut she game some slack: Shis pame has some frustrating flaws, but if you can go into it with no expectations, you're gonna have one hell of a time.So there is stuff to farm, but don't expect to spend 50 hours farming godrolls like in Borderlands. There's also non randomized items, that can only be farmed. There are also 3 artifact slots, which come with randomized bonuses. ![]() If you like RPG elements of soulslikes more than souls elements: I think the whole "farming mages to craft loot" thing will very much be to your liking. If you're still on the fence whether to get this game or not, I'll try to help with that: ![]() You're very welcome to voice your criticisms in the comments, and correct me where I'm wrong.Ģ) The other one is my mini "review", or to be more accurate "to whom can I recommend this game?". Right?Īlright, before I start, let me get out of the way few things:ġ) I don't have complete authority on what in this guide is right and wrong, so in the end this entire guide is just my completely subjective opinion. At least I'm still the first one do make a guide on this game and my guide is in no way obsolete. This guide took awhile to make also, because I was procrastinating busy with important things. ![]() Honestly, had a lot of fun, but also fuck this game, and its last region. Didn't expect it to take me this long, but here we are. Phew, after 40 hours I'm finally finished with this game. ![]() TL DR: If you want shorter guide, check this one out:
